Stephen the Great was a ruler of Moldavia from 1457 to 1504. He was a great military leader and a skilled diplomat, and he is considered one of the greatest rulers in Romanian history.
Stephen ruled Moldavia for 47 years, during which time he fought off repeated invasions by the Ottoman Turks. He won several decisive victories against the Turks, including the Battle of Vaslui in 1475 and the Battle of Cătlăbuga in 1476. These victories made Stephen a hero to the Romanian people and helped to prevent the Ottoman Turks from conquering Moldavia.
In addition to his military prowess, Stephen was also a skilled diplomat. He maintained good relations with the Holy Roman Empire, the Kingdom of Hungary, and the Republic of Venice. He also negotiated trade agreements with these countries, which helped to boost the economy of Moldavia.
