Sun Quan was a Chinese warlord, military strategist, and politician who lived from 182 to 252. He was the founder and first emperor of the Eastern Wu dynasty, one of the Three Kingdoms of China. Sun Quan was born in the Yangtze River Delta region of China. His father, Sun Jian, was a prominent warlord who fought against the Han dynasty. Sun Quan inherited control of his father's forces after Sun Jian's death in 191. Sun Quan was a skilled military strategist and leader. He led his forces to victory in many battles against his rivals, Cao Cao and Liu Bei. He also established a strong and prosperous government in Eastern Wu.
