They are often the most skilled and battle-hardened warriors in a Chapter, and are often assigned to the Chapter's elite 1st Company, which is comprised solely of Veteran Squads. Typically equipped with the best weapons and armor that their Chapter can provide. They often carry powerful close-combat weapons, such as thunder hammers and lightning claws, and they are also skilled in the use of ranged weapons, such as boltguns and plasma guns.
