Journey to the West Characters
Journey to the West is a 16th-century Chinese novel attributed to Wu Cheng'en. It is one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. The novel is a fictionalized account of the legendary pilgrimage of the Tang dynasty Buddhist monk Xuanzang, who set out on a journey to India to obtain sacred texts of Mahayana Buddhism.
The journey of Xuanzang, who is accompanied by three disciples: Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, and Sha Wujing. Along the way, they encounter a variety of challenges, including demons, gods, and other mythical creatures. The novel is also a commentary on the nature of good and evil, as well as the path to enlightenment.
