Emperor Han Lingdi, the last strong ruler of the Eastern Han in name but not in practice, presided over a dynasty already crumbling beneath corruption and factional strife. His rule demonstrated the dangers of indulgence and inaction during times of crisis. The empire he inherited was fragile, and the choices he made only further fractured it. Lingdi remains a symbol of a dynasty in decline, a ruler whose reign foreshadowed the chaos of the Three Kingdoms era.
