Maahes

Maahes (Mahes), the Great, is an ancient Egyptian lion deity associated with war, protection, and the fierce power of the sun. Often depicted as a lion-headed man carrying a knife or sword and wearing a crown, Maahes embodied the courage and ferocity of a lion defending the divine order. As a son of the creator god Ptah and the lioness goddess Sekhmet in some traditions, he was closely connected to strength, royal authority, and the destruction of Egypt’s enemies.

Revered as a formidable guardian, Maahes represents the untamed power of the lion harnessed in service of the gods. His fearsome nature made him both a protector and a force of divine retribution, capable of striking terror into those who threatened the sacred order. For fans of Egyptian mythology, Maahes the Great makes a striking addition to any collection of ancient deities, evoking the majesty of Egypt’s lion gods and the enduring mystery of its temples and legends.
