Munmu of Silla, Kim Pommin

S$138.00

King Munmu of Silla, born Kim Pommin, was the 30th ruler of the Silla kingdom during Korea’s Three Kingdoms period. He ascended the throne in 661 CE, inheriting the legacy of his father, King Taejong Muyeol, and continuing the vision of unifying the Korean Peninsula. With the alliance of Tang China, Munmu led Silla’s armies to decisive victories against Baekje and later Goguryeo, ultimately achieving the long-aspired goal of Korean unification in 668 CE.

His reign marked a turning point in Korean history, establishing Silla as the dominant power. A pragmatic and strategic leader, he was equally skilled in diplomacy and warfare. His wisdom and perseverance made him one of the most important monarchs in East Asian history.
