Roman Signifer (LYL)
The signifer was a vital role in the Roman army, as the standard was a symbol of the unit's identity and morale. The loss of a standard was considered a disgrace, and signifers were often fiercely loyal to their standards and would fight to the death to protect them.
Signifers were typically chosen from among the most experienced and bravest soldiers. They were also required to be strong and agile, as they had to be able to carry the heavy standard and maneuver it effectively in battle.
