Sherman Tank

The M4 Sherman was the main battle tank used by the United States and its allies during World War II. Designed for mass production, the Sherman prioritized reliability, mobility, and ease of maintenance over sheer firepower and armor. It featured a 75mm gun (later upgraded to 76mm in some variants), and its robust chassis allowed for numerous adaptations, including flame tanks, recovery vehicles, and tank destroyers.

Though initially outgunned by heavier German tanks like the Panther and Tiger, the Sherman’s real strength lay in its numbers and logistical support. Easy to repair in the field and simple to train crews on, it became the backbone of Allied armored forces across Europe, North Africa, and the Pacific.
