Honda Tadakatsu LYL

Honda Tadakatsu (本多忠勝) was one of the most celebrated samurai generals of Japan’s Sengoku period and a devoted retainer of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Counted among the Four Heavenly Kings of the Tokugawa, he earned a fearsome reputation through decades of warfare and was traditionally said to have fought in dozens of battles without suffering a serious wound. His imposing armor, distinctive antlered helmet, and legendary spear Tonbokiri (“Dragonfly Cutter”) made him an instantly recognizable presence on the battlefield.

Renowned for both courage and loyalty, Tadakatsu served Ieyasu through crucial conflicts including the Battle of Anegawa, the Battle of Mikatagahara, and the Sekigahara campaign that paved the way for the Tokugawa shogunate. Even rival commanders reportedly admired his martial ability, helping turn him into an enduring symbol of the ideal Sengoku warrior—formidable in combat, steadfast toward his lord, and remembered as one of the finest samurai of his generation.
