Romance of the Three Kingdoms Cao Ang

Cao Ang was the eldest son of the famous warlord Cao Cao and is remembered as a dutiful and filial young noble during the late Eastern Han dynasty. Though his life was tragically short, he earned lasting respect for his loyalty and courage. Historical accounts and Romance of the Three Kingdoms portray him as a promising heir who possessed both good character and deep devotion to his family.

Cao Ang is best known for his actions during the Battle of Wancheng, where he gave up his horse to help his father escape from danger when Zhang Xiu launched a surprise attack. This selfless act ultimately cost him his life, but it cemented his reputation as a model son willing to sacrifice everything for his father. Though overshadowed by more famous figures of the Three Kingdoms era, Cao Ang remains a poignant symbol of filial piety, honor, and tragic potential never fully realized.
