Serket

Serket (Selket) is the ancient Egyptian goddess associated with scorpions, protection, healing, and venomous creatures. Often depicted as a woman with a scorpion upon her head, she was believed to possess power over poisonous stings and bites, allowing her both to punish enemies and protect people from dangerous venom. Her protective role made her especially important in Egyptian magical and funerary traditions.

Serket was also closely connected with the protection of the dead, famously guarding one of the Four Sons of Horus and appearing among the protective goddesses associated with royal burials, including the treasures of Tutankhamun. Mysterious yet benevolent to those under her protection, she embodies the dual nature of the scorpion itself—deadly and feared, yet capable of becoming a powerful guardian against danger.
