Romance of the Three Kingdoms Wutugu

Wutugu was the mighty king of the Nanman tribe of Wuge Kingdom in Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Renowned for his immense size and extraordinary strength, he commanded a fearsome army clad in rattan armor woven from specially treated vines. This armor was said to be resistant to swords, arrows, and even capable of floating across rivers, making his warriors among the most formidable opponents encountered by Shu during Zhuge Liang's Southern Campaign.

Despite his martial prowess and intimidating reputation, Wutugu ultimately fell victim to Zhuge Liang's brilliant strategy rather than direct combat. Lured into a narrow valley, his rattan-armored troops were trapped and destroyed by a carefully planned fire attack, exploiting the one weakness of their otherwise remarkable armor. Though his appearance in the novel is brief, Wutugu remains one of the most memorable Nanman leaders, symbolizing the exotic warriors and unique challenges faced by Shu in the south.
